Federal, Provincial govts are responsible for safety of Ali Imran: EFS

Press Release

KARACHI: Editors for Safety expresses their grave concerned on abduction of Geo reporter Ali Imran. In its statement they said that “We, the members of Editors for Safety (EfS), express their grave concern on the mysterious disappearance of Geo News’ senior reporter Ali Imran from outside his house in Karachi on Friday night.”

EFS said, his family says Ali Imran had stepped outside the house for a few minutes to fetch some food stuff from a nearby bakery but has since not returned home.
The EfS, whose sole aim is to ensure safety and protection of fellow journalists against intimidation, threats and violence, fears that he may have been forcibly taking away because of his work on the recent political events in Karachi, including the arrest of opposition member, Capt (retd) Safdar.
“We believe it is the responsibility of both the provincial and federal security agencies to make sure Ali Imran is safely recovered as soon as possible” said EfS convenor Zaffar Abbas. “If any bodily harm is done to Mr Imran, we will hold the authorities directly responsible” he added.
The EfS also appeals to all members of the journalists fraternity to remain united, and collectively raise their voice against this illegal act of intimidation and harassment.
