92 News journalist files harassment case against colleague

ISLAMABAD — A senior female journalist working at the Islamabad office of 92 News has filed a police case accusing a colleague of workplace harassment and intimidation, according to a copy of a First Information Report (FIR) circulating on social media.
In the complaint, journalist Aqsa Khalid alleged that a colleague, identified as Adeel, began harassing and threatening her after their engagement ended. She stated in the FIR that the relationship was called off after her family concluded that the man “was not of good character.
Alleged harassment at the workplace
According to the FIR, the situation escalated on February 26 when the accused allegedly came to her office and confronted the journalist. Aqsa Khalid stated that he misbehaved with her and physically manhandled her despite repeated requests that he leave her alone. She told police that the incident left her mentally distressed and fearful about her safety at work.
Following the confrontation, the journalist contacted the police helpline (15). Police officers reportedly arrived at the scene and attempted to call the accused multiple times, but he did not respond to their calls.

Police complaint filed at Aabpara station
After the initial response, police advised the journalist to file a formal complaint at the Aabpara Police Station in Islamabad. She subsequently lodged the FIR detailing the alleged harassment and physical misconduct.

The complaint has drawn attention on social media after journalist Zahida Rao shared a copy of the FIR on her X account, highlighting concerns about harassment faced by women journalists in newsrooms.
