Ahmedpur East: President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (Workers), Dr. Saadia Kamal, visited the residence of Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) President and Editor-in-Chief of Daily Nawa-I-Ahmedpur Sharqia, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, in Satellite Town, where a detailed meeting lasting over one and a half hours was held.

During the meeting, both sides held an in-depth discussion on key issues confronting journalists in Pakistan, including professional challenges, safety concerns, and recent judicial developments related to the PECA Act. Broader matters concerning media freedom and the evolving digital landscape were also deliberated.

On the occasion, the RMNP President congratulated Dr. Saadia Kamal on the success of her group in the recent elections of the National Press Club (NPC), Islamabad.

Dr. Saadia Kamal sought detailed information regarding the formation of the Journalists Alliance, an initiative launched in October last year through the collaboration of Rural Media Network Pakistan and Daily Nawa-i-Ahmedpur Sharqia. She was informed that under this initiative, 15 press clubs have been established across three districts of Bahawalpur Division, including Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

The RMNP President further briefed her that, in its initial phase, the Journalists Alliance is focusing on integrating press clubs and journalists’ unions from rural areas. He added that three events had already been successfully organized, including the first convention of the alliance held in Uch Sharif, which was attended by more than 200 journalists.

He also shared future plans to organize training programs for members of affiliated press clubs, focusing on mobile journalism, digital reporting, and journalists’ safety, stating that these initiatives would be formally announced soon.

During her visit, Dr. Saadia Kamal also conducted an interview with the RMNP President for her social media platform, discussing ongoing media initiatives and challenges faced by journalists in rural areas.

Dr. Saadia Kamal was accompanied by her younger brother, Muhammad Asim Jalwana, and her son, Wasu Khan, who were also present on the occasion.
