PFUJ concerned over closure of Daily Ummat Rawalpindi office

ISLAMABAD—The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has expressed concern over the sudden closure of the Daily Ummat Rawalpindi office, which has resulted in the joblessness of dozens of journalists.

PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi urged the management to withdraw the decision terming it “uncalled for and unjustified.”

“In a difficult situation, when media workers and journalists are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic and government’s anti-media policies, such a decision has aggravated an already challenging situation,” they stated.
