Pakistan Broadcasters Association suspends Geo’s membership
The association has issued a show-notice to Geo News.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) on Friday suspended membership of Geo News.
The PBA held a meeting to review defence ministry’s treason allegations against Geo News.
A representative from Geo was also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the association has issued a show-notice to Geo News administration.
The move came few days after the Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (Pemra) suspended the license issued to Geo News for a period of 15 days on a complaint filed by the Ministry of Defence.
Apart from the suspension, Rs10 million fine was also imposed on the channel.
The defense ministry lodged a complaint against the channel and sought its license suspension for accusing the ISI and its chief, Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam, of being behind
an attack in April on journalist Hamid Mir in Karachi.
