RMNP-Backed Journalists Alliance Pakistan Completes Fourth Phase of Cash Awards at Sadiq Garh Palace
Crown Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi Honors Three Press Club Office-Bearers as RMNP-Linked Initiative Crosses Rs90,000 in Journalist Support Since May
DERA NAWAB SAHIB — The fourth phase of the Journalist Support Cash Awards, organized under the Journalists Alliance Pakistan (JAP) — a joint initiative of Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) and Daily Nawa-i-Ahmedpur Sharqia — was completed at the historic Sadiq Garh Palace, with Crown Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi presenting cash awards of Rs10,000 each, along with honorary shields, to office-bearers of three press clubs affiliated with JAP’s Southern Punjab Chapter of Rural and Town Press Clubs.
Recipients Honored
The awards were presented to Rana Muhammad Qasim, President of Press Club Khan Bela, District Rahim Yar Khan; Rana Haroon Abbas, President of Press Club Janpur, District Rahim Yar Khan; and Muhammad Arabi Abbasi, General Secretary of Press Club Tranda Muhammad Panah, District Rahim Yar Khan.
RMNP’s Role in Sustaining the Initiative
The fourth-phase funding was secured at the request of Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, President of Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) and Founder of Journalists Alliance Pakistan (JAP), with Crown Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi providing the required financial support. With this latest distribution, a total of Rs 90,000 in Journalist Support Cash Awards has now been disbursed to nine journalists working in SamaSatta, AhmadpurEast, Hatheji, Bahawalpur, Tranda Muhammad Panah, Janpur and Khan Bela since May 2026, through Ehsan Sehar’s personal efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, President Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) , said Journalists Alliance Pakistan was founded as a joint initiative of Rural Media Network Pakistan and Daily Nawa-i-Ahmedpur Sharqia. He said its first phase focuses on improving the working conditions of journalists serving in small cities, towns and rural areas of Southern Punjab, ensuring their safety and protection while performing their professional duties, and providing them with modern journalism training.
Upcoming RMNP Training Programs
Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, President RMNP announced that two separate journalism training programs for members of press clubs affiliated with the Southern Punjab Chapter will be organized under the auspices of Rural Media Network Pakistan on October 22 in Ahmadpur East and October 27 in Uch Sharif. He also thanked Crown Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi for funding the fourth phase of the Journalist Support Cash Awards.
Prince’s Remarks
Crown Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, Quaid of Bahawalpur Sooba Mahaz, said he was pleased with the establishment of Journalists Alliance Pakistan and satisfied that the initiative had set clear goals to improve the working conditions of journalists in remote small cities and towns of Southern Punjab. He assured JAP of his continued cooperation going forward.
He said he was well aware that journalists working in small cities and towns sometimes face extremely difficult circumstances, often with little or no meaningful support from their media organizations. He urged regional journalists to make positive use of digital media and artificial intelligence, saying these tools could help increase their income and meet the changing demands of the media industry. He emphasized that regional development and the promotion of democracy are impossible without a free and financially sustainable media.
