Senior Journalist Khalil Jibran shot dead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province ,Pakistan

PM Shahbaz Sharif & CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur take notice of the journalist Jibran murder

Khyber: Senior journalist Khalil Jibran was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Landi Kotal, Khyber district on Tuesday 18th June 2024.He was Correspondent of Khyber News  Channel and former President Landi Kotal Press Club. According to police sources  this  incident took place in Mazreena area in the vicinity of Landi Kotal Police Station where Jibran was targeted by unknown armed motorbike riders when he was heading towards his home alongwith his friend Muhammad Sajjad advocate .It has been reported that journalist Khalil Jibran ‘s car developed a fault near his home when the unknown gunmen encircled him,dragged him out of his car and shot at him.Jibran died on the spot and  Sajjad received bullet injuries while unidentified assailants sped away from the scene in the cover of aerial firing.slain journalist Jibran dead body was removed to Landi Kotal hospital for autopsy.A senior police officer claimed that Jibran had received threats from terrorists.
Meanwhile Landi Kotal Police Station have registered a murder case against unknown gunmen on the report of Sajjad who is an  eye witness in this case.Anti-Terrorism sections also added to this case.The dead body of slain journalist Khalil Jibran was buried in his native village Sultan Khel after his funeral prayers which was largely attended.Before offering funeral prayers,journalists,political and civil society activists staged a demonstration on the Khyber-Pak-Afghan highway where slain Jibran’s body was also kept.The protestors chanted slogans and  demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Premier Shahbaz Sharif , KP CM  Ali Amin Gandapur take notice of Gibran’s murder

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned Gibran’s killing, instructing the KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and relevant authorities to arrest his murderers.
According to a statement released by the PM Office, the premier said the government will take strong measures to ensure the safety of journalists. He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the slain journalist’s family. Earlier, KP CM took notice of the incident and ordered authorities concerned to immediately arrest the culprits behind the journalist’s killing.

Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) also condemned Jibran’s murder and demanded CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur and Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi to bring Jibran’s killers to justice. In a statement ,the RMNP severely criticised the higher authorities  constant failures to stop such tragic incidents as journalists are continuously facing kidnappings, torture and threats across the country. Last month, a Sindhi journalist from a Sindhi newspaper Awami Aghaz , Nasrullah Gadani, was targeted by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants near Korai Goth, 12 kilometers from Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district  leaving him seriously wounded on May 21.Later he succumbed to his   injuries around three days later and breathed his last in Agha khan hospital Karachi.
