Sami Abraham seeks registration of FIR against minister
ISLAMABAD — President and anchorperson of BOL News Sami Abraham has filed an application with the Faisalabad Police seeking registration of FIR against Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry, who allegedly slapped him on Friday.
The incident happened during the wedding ceremony of 92 News owner Mian Rasheed’s daughter.
In his application, Sami stated that he was at the wedding along with journalists Arshad Sharif and Rauf Klasra, and Director General FIA Bashir Memon, and PTI MNA Farrukh Habib.
He said that minister Fawad Chaudhry slapped and attacked him with the help of his men and abused him. The minister also threatened him of dire consequences.
Sami said that for this physical attack, and the threats hurled at him, the police register an FIR against the minister.
Earlier on Friday, Fawad announced he had initiated criminal proceedings against Sami for defamation.
The minister, who earlier on used slurs against the journalist was equally unforgiving in his latest tweet. “Have initiated criminal proceedings against #PoniTail and his abbu jan for defamation another #Tidda must know I saved him in the past from many cases he is too small physically and mentally lesson ll be taught as per law.”
Commenting on the political situation last month Sami had said in a video that Prime Minister Imran Khan would face conspiracies and alleged that Fawad Chaudhry would lead a splinter group within the ruling party opposing the premier. The minister then came up with harsh tweets against Sami.
Some insiders say that things between the two turned ugly after Fawad (as the information minister) refused to accept Sami’s request to grant his organization BOL News advertisements.
