RMNP Extends Greetings and Best Wishes to Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Paracha on His Appointment

Multan (March 2, 2026): Renowned academician and senior media scholar Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Paracha has joined the University of Southern Punjab as Professor and Chairman, Department of Media and Communication Studies, effective March 2, 2026.

Prof. Dr. Paracha brings with him an illustrious academic and administrative career spanning over 33 years. Prior to this appointment, he served at the The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, where he remained a key member of the Department of Media Studies and played a pivotal role in academic development and institutional governance. He also served as Controller of Examinations until 2024, where he was widely appreciated for introducing administrative reforms, strengthening examination systems, and promoting transparency and efficiency in academic processes.

A distinguished scholar in the field of Media and Communication Studies, Dr. Paracha has an extensive record of teaching, research, and academic supervision. He has published more than 50 research articles in journals of national and international repute, contributing significantly to media theory, communication research, and contemporary discourse studies. His mentorship has shaped a new generation of scholars, with supervision of over 10 PhD dissertations and more than 40 MPhil theses to his credit.

Throughout his academic career, Prof. Dr. Paracha has actively contributed to institutional development. During his tenure, he served on key university bodies including the Admission Committee, Prospectus Committee, and Group Insurance Committee. He played a leading role in the establishment of BS programs and also served as Focal Person for the Associate Degree Program, contributing to curriculum development and quality assurance initiatives aligned with national higher education standards.

Known for his academic leadership, research orientation, and administrative acumen, Dr. Paracha is expected to further strengthen the Department of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Southern Punjab by promoting research culture, industry-academia linkages, and innovative academic programs tailored to emerging media trends.

Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Paracha has also acted as a Resource Person in previous training programmes organized by the Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) in collaboration with UNESCO and the Doha Centre for Media Freedom. His participation contributed to the professional capacity building of journalists and media students.
