Police arrest journalist Bilal Farooqi on charges of ‘spreading hatred’
Farooqi’s arrest comes two days after an FIR was lodged against him at Defence Police Station
Karachi: Journalist and activist Bilal Farooqi has been arrested by police from his residence in Karachi on charges of spreading hatred and maligning state institutions.
According to the first information report (FIR), available with The Express Tribune, a complainant, Javed Khan, who is a machine operator in a factory in Landhi has accused Farooqi of spreading hatred on the popular microblogging site, Twitter.
Farooqi, who is currently working as a News Editor at The Express Tribune, was arrested two days after the FIR was lodged against him at the Defence Police Station.
