Missing journalist found dead in Karachi,Says RMNP
KARACHI: August 23. A body found dumped on the outskirts of Karachi
was identified as that of a journalist who went missing in a restive
part of the city five months ago.
A piece of paper found on the body suggested he was missing journalist
Haji Abdul Razzaq Baloch. But the body, which bore torture marks, was
so disfigured that relatives needed several visits to the mortuary to
confirm the identity.
“His face was not recognizable but his arms and feet made us recognize
his body,” Saeeda Sarbazi, Razzaq’s sister, told AFP.
Baloch was a sub editor at the daily Tawar (Voice), a Balochi-language
daily, who went missing in March. Family sources said he was abducted
from Lyari Town.
Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon told RMNP Karachi
Coordinator that authorities were “trying to collect further
details”.According to the monitoring of the Rural Media Network
Pakistan four other Balochi journalists Imran Sheikh, SaifurRehman,
Muhammad Iqbal and Mehmood Ahmed Afridi have been killed during this
year. President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar has condemned the killing of
Baloch journalist Abdul Razzaq Baloch and demanded of government to
provide security and safety to journalists fraternity in Pakistan.
