Journalists seminar condemns forced closure of Kashmir Press Club and demands release of Kashmiri journalist Sajjad Gul
AhmedpurEast: Feb5, Ahmedpur Press Club AhmedpurEast’s members,civil society activists and political leaders of different political parties in an unanimous resolution demanded of UN Secretary General & Director General UNESCO to take the notice of the forced closure of Kashmir Press Club in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and detention of 26 years old trainee journalist Sajjad Gul and urged them to use their influence on Indian government for the immediate release of journalist Sajjad Gul and withdrawal of its orders for the cancellation of the Kashmir Press Club building and its land.
This resolution was adopted in a seminar to express solidarity with Kashmiri journalists which was chaired by President Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) Ehsan Ahmed Sehar while two former Presidents of Press Club Bahawalpur Chaudhry Muhammad Naseer ,Naseer Ahmed Nasar,former General Secretary Riaz Khan Baloch, District President PML(Q) Syed Salahuddin Ahmed Jeelani,President Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran AhmedpurEast Muhammad Arshad Rajput ,General Secretary Tehsil Bar Association Tahir Manzoor,Tehsil President Zakat&Ushr Committee Muhammad Saleem Niazi, and PPP women leader Ms Perveen Atta Malik advocate were the guests of honour.Both presidents of two factions of AhmedpurEast Rafiq Safdar Rajput and Syed Nasar Mehmood Rizvi were also present on the stage.
President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar highlighted the plight of Kashmiri journalists and condemned the forced closure of Kashmir Press Club, a symbol of press freedom. Ms Perveen Atta Perveen advocate and other speakers also criticised Indian government for his illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir and demanded of world community to end its silence about atrocities of Indian forces in Jammu & Kashmir valley. Organiser Khadim Hussain Shaheen Lashari and Professor Shahid Rafique acted as compares in this seminar. Later on eighty shields were distributed among press club AhmedpurEast members and civil society activists as the recognition of their services which they have rendered in the field of journalism and for the betterment of the citizens. President Press Club Rafiq Safdar Rajput presented bouquets and gifts to President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar along with other leading personalities of the city.
