Journalist Javedullah khan Killed in Matta,Swat
Mingora: Javedullah Khan the bureau chief an Urdu daily Ausaf Islamabad was shot dead in Shkardara area of Matta tehsil of Swat district on Tuesday. He is the second rural journalist who was killed in the month of February 2020.According to details Javedullah Khan was riding his car on his fields that unidentified assailants opened fire on his car, resulting in severe injuries.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, however, the police guard with the journalist in the car was safe at the time of the attack.
Upon receiving the report of the incident, police and anti-terror authorities arrived at the scene.
Slain journalists was the younger brother, Hamidullah Khan, a former Dawn correspondent in Mingora, Swat, and is now affiliated with the Al Jazeera TV.
It may be recalled that on February 16, the body of Aziz Memon, a rural journalist associated with KTN News channel and daily Kawish newspaper was recovered in a mysterious condition from a canal in Mehrabpur, a town near Nowshera Feroz of Sindh province.
The Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) condemned the killing of journalist Javedullah Khan by unknown culprits. In a statement, President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar demanded of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to constitute a special investigating team for thorough investigation and the immediate arrest of all unknowns assailants.
He further said the attacks on journalists in the country again rising , hence the government should adopt necessary precautionary measures to cope this alarming situation and ensure the safety and the security of the journalists.
