Two journalists from D.I. Khan booked for covering protest rally
PESHAWAR – Police in Dera Ismail Khan have booked two journalists for covering a protest by Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
Reports on Tuesday said police registered cases against Sailab Mehsud and Zafar Wazir.
Shamim Shahid, a senior vice President of PFUJ, condemned the action and called for the withdrawal of cases against them.
He said in a statement that by booking the duo, the authorities wanted to stop journalists from writing the truth, and also to intimidate them.
Shahid said that the journalist community would never let the authorities suppress freedom of expression.
Meanwhile, Freedom Network condemned the Dera Ismail Khan Police and also demanded withdrawal of cases against the two journalists.
