APNS suspends publication of Sindh govt advertisements
KARACHI: All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) in a letter to Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh Minister for Information flayed delay in clearance of longstanding dues and suspended publication of their advertisements.
The letter written by President APNS Sarmad Ali read as, We have to inform you that the Sindh Committee of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society at its meeting held on July 31, 2017 has strongly condemned the inordinate delay by the Sindh Information ministry to clear the long outstanding dues as well as dues relating to 2016-17 despite clear assurance by the Sindh government
The members expressed their dismay over the non-payment of previous dues to the member publications based in the Sindh province and the dues relating to the period of 1st January 2016 to 30th June 2017. The APNS Secretariat has so far received claims from 44 member publications amounting to Rs276 million against advertisements released by the Sindh Information Ministry which has not been settled despite various communications.
The claims of remaining publications will be intimated on receipt. The Sindh Committee has decided to suspend the advertisements of government of Sindh in its member publications with effect from August 01, 2017.
