Protest rally against attack on Din News channel
AhmedpurEast.Journalists took out a protest rally from Jinnah hall today against the hand grenade attack on the head office of Din News channel in Lahore.It was led by President Rural Media Network Pakistan Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, while both rival presidents of press clubs Syed Nasir Mehmood Rizvi and Iqbal Danish along with their members participated in it. Rally was organized by Din TV correspondent Muhammad Akram Zafari while a large mumber of civil society activists and political figures also joined.President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar while addressing protesters condemned the attack on Din News TV channel head office in Lahore and stated that earlier attackers of GEO TV and Dawn News TV channels DSNG vans had not been arrested.He said that there was no law in Pakistan that guaranteed the safety of journalists and that the state—— rather than protecting journalists —– actually creates an enabling environment where media personnel can be targeted for doing their jobs.He highlighted that in Pakistan,only two cases of journalists who were murdered had reached any conclusion so far,the murders of Daniel Pearl and Wali Khan Babar. President RMNP demanded of Premier Nawaz Sharif for the adoption of media protection bill by Pakistani parliament and immediate arrest of the attackers on Din News TV channel office.Ehsan Ahmed Sehar said that delay in justice will hurt media freedom.Earlier both presidents of rival press clubs Iqbal Danish and Syed Mehmood Rizvi endorsed president RMNP demands and expressed their solidarity with the staff and management of Din News TV channel .District vice president Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Bahawalpur Munir Malik advocate, Sajid Siraj Jalwana advocate,columnist Qalandar Hussein Syed, PML(N) leader Muhammad Aslam Qureshi and senior journalists Rafique Safdar, Abdul Hameed Saqib, Hafiz Ejaz Baloch also delivered speeches on this occasion.Rally culminated at chowk Munir Shaheed peacefully.
