RMNP to organise training for journalists of 14 rural and town press clubs

AHMEDPUR EAST: Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) will organise a training programme for members of 14 rural and town press clubs affiliated with the Journalists Alliance Pakistan (JAP) Southern Punjab Chapter on 27 October 2026 at Uch Sharif, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, President RMNP and founder of JAP, announced.

The announcement was made during a Journalist Support Cash Awards ceremony held at Punjab College, Ahmedpur Sharqia, where two young journalists, Sikandar Ali Rajput and Kamran Kalal, received cash support awards of Rs10,000 each along with honorary shields.

Both journalists were nominated for the awards by Ehsan Ahmed Sehar. The awards were presented by JAP leaders. Four JAP leaders presented the cash award and shield to Sikandar Ali Rajput, while three JAP leaders presented the award to Kamran Kalal.

Announcing the training programme, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar said RMNP would provide professional capacity-building opportunities to journalists associated with the rural and town press clubs of the JAP network. The programme is being organised in collaboration with an international organisation.

The training programme will be held in Uch Sharif following the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the JAP Southern Punjab Chapter, also scheduled for 27 October. The oath-taking ceremony is a JAP organisational activity, while the training programme will be organised by RMNP.

The Uch Sharif Press and Media Club (Registered) is an RMNP affiliate and is among the press clubs connected with the initiative.

The Journalist Support Cash Awards in Ahmedpur Sharqia follow an earlier journalist-support initiative held at Samasatta in May 2026, continuing efforts to support working journalists in southern Punjab.

Through the October training, RMNP aims to strengthen the professional skills and capacity of journalists working in rural and town areas and to further support local press clubs serving communities outside major urban media centres.
