Information Minister announces suspension of advertisements of the TV channel that laid off 170 employees.

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has announced immediate suspension of advertisements of the private channel Suno News that terminated 170 employees.

He was speaking in the National Assembly after holding a meeting with journalists, who had staged a walkout from the Press Gallery.

The Minister further said that management of the Suno News TV channel, which has not paid salaries for the past three months, has been summoned to Islamabad so that the matter can be resolved.

He also thanked media for ending their walkout.

Earlier, speaking on the floor of the House, the Minister said the protection of media workers is a top priority and that matters related to journalists’ job security and benefits will be resolved.

Attaullah Tarar said issues concerning journalists will be resolved in consultation with coalition partners and the opposition.
