Lala Israfil TV journalist shot dead in Balochistan

RMNP demands authorities to conduct immediate and transparent investigation besides the arrest of the shooters

Musakhel :Senior journalist Lala Israfil Khan was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the local market of Musakhel district in Balochistan on Sunday, police said.He is the first journalist killed in Pakistan during current year according to the RMNP monitoring.
Lala Israfil, who reported from Musakhel for HUM News and other media organisations, was widely known for highlighting public issues, deprivation and the concerns of ordinary citizens. Colleagues and local residents described him as a fearless journalist who consistently raised his voice for truth and accountability.
According to police officials, the attack took place when armed men opened indiscriminate fire on the journalist outside a shop. A witness and the victim’s younger brother said the attackers fled through the Doctors’ Street area immediately after the shooting.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation. Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Khan said the body had been shifted to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The SHO added that a heavy police contingent had cordoned off the area and a search operation was underway to apprehend those involved in the killing.

The journalist’s death has plunged his family, the media community and residents of Musakhel into mourning. Local citizens expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing Lala Israfil as a sincere, people-friendly and professional journalist whose reporting consistently reflected the concerns of the public.

Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) and the Balochistan Union of Journalists in separate statements strongly condemned the killing and called on authorities to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation. Both organisations demanded that the motives behind the attack be uncovered and that those responsible be brought to justice.
