Senior journalist Jan Mohammad Mahar shot dead in Sukkur
SUKKUR: Jan Mohammad Mahar, a senior journalist associated with a Sindhi newspaper Kawish and its TV channel KTN , was shot dead by armed men in Sukkur city of Sindh province.
According to reports, the senior journalist and Kawish Television Network (KTN) Sukkur bureau chief was shot several times after leaving the broadcaster’s offices after 9.15 P.M on August 13.
The journalist received several bullets to his head and near his eyes, the police said, adding that he was rushed to a private hospital in an extremely serious condition. He succumbed to his wounds while a surgery was under way, hospital sources said.
A motive behind the attack could not be ascertained immediately but police believed that an old enmity might have led to the murder. The police started a hunt for the attackers.
Earlier a reporter of a Sindhi daily newspaper Sobh was shot dead in Ahmadpur town of of the Khairpur district, on August 7. Ghulam Asghar Khand, 49 years old, had sustained nine gunshots.
