Renowned British journalist Michael Griffin passes away
London: Renowned British journalist, author and broadcaster Michael Griffin passed away in London in the morning of 22nd October,2019 after a protracted illness. MS Anne Uhlig the wife of Michael Griffin passed on this sad news to President Rural Media Network Pakistan Ehsan Ahmed Sehar.She informed in her email message that Michael Griffin has been ill for last three years. His last days were cosy, full of loving attention and spent in the presence of his family. He died at home, as he wished in London.
President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar has conveyed his deepest condolences on the sad demise of Michael Griffin to his widow and said that he will miss his friend forever. In his message to Ms Anne Uhlig,he prayed that may you and the children have the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
Meanwhile daily Urdu newspaper Nawa-I-AhmedpurSharqia today published Michael Griffin death news as main lead story with his six pictures, while Press Club Chanigoth in its condolence meeting chaired by its president & Coordinator RMNP Shahid Bashir Chaudhry held one minute silence in the memory of late British journalist Michael Griffin.
Former Executive Director Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) Mr Ian Gillham in his email message from London thanked President RMNP Ehsan Ahmed Sehar for passing on Michael Griffin death news to him and said that he is sure that coverage given by his daily newspaper Nawa-I-AhmedpurSharqia will be a great comfort to his wife and family.
It may be recalled that former Executive Director Ian Gillham had approved a training project on the request of Chief Editor Nawa-I-AhmedpurSharqia Ehsan Ahmed Sehar in 2003 and selected British journalist Michael Griffin as trainer. Late Michael Griffin conducted a four days long training workshop in rural Pakistan along with Karachi based journalist ZiaulIslam Zuberi from June 16 to June 19 which was attended by 25 journalists including 10 female contributors.
