PEMRA issues show cause notices to Bol News, Urdu 1
Islamabad: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Wednesday issued a show cause notice to the Bol News network as in its TV show HQ Debate the host, Hamza Ali Abbasi, allegedly passing derogatory comments about the Pakistani passport.
The Pemra statement reads: “Airing of such c amounts to spread of hatred and promotes anti-Pakistan sentiments.”
The authority has directed the management to furnish a reply within a seven-day period.
Moreover, the media watchdog also issued a show cause notice to Urdu 1 for airing Dangal, an Indian film which is proscribed by the Board of Film Censors in Pakistan.
The network has been given a seven-day period to furnish a reply in this regard.
Pemra has identified certain scenes which were deemed inappropriate for viewing in Pakistan as well.
The content is banned under the Pemra laws and Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015.
The CEO of the organisaton has also been called upon for a personal hearing. Moreover, a complaint lodged by a local news outlet in regard to Film World for illegally showing Indian films Wanted and Dabang as these rights are with the complainant has been referred to the Council of Complaints for further action.
