KhUJ condemns arrest of journalist in Mardan

PESHAWAR—Khyber Union of Journalist (KhUJ) has condemned the arrest of Lutfullah Lutaf, a senior journalist and a president of the Mardan Press Club.
In a joint statement, KhUJ President Fida Khattak and General-Secretary Muhammad Naeem criticized the police action against him and termed the move an attempt to suppress the media.
They expressed serious concern over the increase in attacks on the media. “Journalists have sacrificed their lives for press freedom and they will continue to do so in future as well, if needed.”
They condemned the torture and maltreatment of Lutaf and demanded the Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, Provincial Adviser to CM for information Ajmal Wazir, and inspector general of police to take notice of the incident and order strict action against those involved.
