Journalist shot dead in Hafizabad
HAFIZABAD – ( October 3,2014)Lahore-based daily Dunya correspondent was shot dead here in Kaleke Mandi ‘apparently’ over old enmity on Friday. The police have registered a case and started investigation. According to police source, Nadeem Haider, correspondent of Daily Dunya and owner of Muslim Cambridge School Kaleke Mandi, was sitting in his school when some armed motorcyclists stormed the premises.
The culprits opened indiscriminate firing, killing Nadeem Haider on the spot. On information, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to city morgue.
It has been learnt that enmity has been going on between Jahangir Bhatti and Bakhtawar Bhattin groups of Chhani Chorerra since long and the deceased belonged to Jahangir Bhatti group. He had abandoned his native village and settled to Hafizabad three years ago due to the rivalry. The rivalry between the two groups has claimed more than two dozen lives from both sides so far. According to relatives of the deceased, Nadeem was targeted by Bakhtawar group.Meanwhile, local journalists condemned the cold blooded murder of Nadeem and demanded arrest of the accused immediately.Mean while Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and summoned a report from the district police officer concerned
