Journalist Shaheena Shaheen shot dead in Turbat,Balochistan
QUETTA: Shaheena Shaheen, a renowned social activist and a journalist from Gwadar, was shot dead by unidentified men in Turbat on Saturday, officials said.
The PTV Bolan morning show anchor was brought to a local hospital in critical condition after being shot twice, hospital sources told The Express Tribune, adding that the owner of the vehicle, in which Shaheena was brought, fled soon after dropping the victim. However, the police managed to seize the vehicle later on.
According to police officials, Shaheena, who was also the editor of Balochi language magazine Dazgohar, was shot at a housing quarter in Turbat and unidentified assailants left her body at the hospital.
An investigation into the homicide has been launched following medico-legal formalities at the hospital.
The city, approximately 700 kilometres from the provincial capital of Quetta, has been frequently targeted by militants.
On July 21, at least one person was killed and seven others sustained injuries in a bomb blast at a market in Turbat.
The province, in recent months, has seen an increase in attacks. Earlier in May, six security forces personnel, including one officer, were martyred when a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) struck their vehicle near Pakistan-Iran border.

PTV Bolan anchor shot dead in Turbat
According to SAMAA TV channel , PTV anchor and artist Shaheena Shaheen has been murdered in Turbat, Balochistan.
She was shot twice.
The police said the anchor was taken to a hospital by unidentified man in an injured condition, but succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
An investigation is under way. The police are saying a motive is yet to be found for the murder.
The unidentified man left his car at the hospital and flee the scene, the law enforcers said. The vehicle has been seized by the police.
Shaheen hosted programmes for PTV Bolan. She was also the editor of a local magazine and painted.Her body has been handed over to her family for burial.

As per RMNP monitoring, slain Shaheena was a believer in gender equality and campaigned for women’s empowerment in Balochistan.She was killed in Turbat.Slain Shaheena was a morning show host in PTV Bolan and an editor of Balochi magazine Dazgohar.Police sources informed that slain Shaheena Shaheen had married with one Mehrab Gichki five months ago .Mehrab had removed Shaheena to hospital at 12.30 PM on Saturday(Today) ,who had succumbed to her injuries.He sped away from hospital and gone underground.Slain Shaheena’s maternal uncle Amjad Raheem told that Shaheena had married with Mehrab in a civil court.Police raided an official house of one Akbar Gichki in T&T colony who serves in Quetta .Raiding party recovered a cartridge and empty round of pistol from this house.It has also been learnt that slain Shaheena’s mother arriving Turbat from Quetta to get register her daughter’s murder case.
