Journalist Ghulam Asghar Khand shot dead in Khairpur district of Sindh province

KHAIRPUR:( August 7,2023) Ghulam Asghar Khand, associated with the Sindhi Daily Sobh, was  attacked and killed in Ahmadpur town of Khairpur district  of Sindh province . According to reports unknown men riding motorcycles approached the journalist while he was at his guest house in the locality of Ahmadpur, before firing at him.  The journalist received at least nine gunshot wounds during the attack. Khand was taken to Pir Jo Goth Taluka Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.The leaders of  PFUJ and journalism organizations strongly condemned the killing of another journalist in the region. They said that his elder brother and journalist, Mushtaq Ahmed Khand, was also killed during an attack way back in 2013 in Khairpur town during a political gathering.It is pertinent to mention that earlier Samaa TV  channel’s reporter Imtiaz Baig   was killed in an ‘assassination attempt’ carried out by unidentified persons in Jhelum.

Meanwhile, SSP Khairpur Roohal Khan Khoso  confirmed the murder of the journalist and informed  that a police team under the supervision of ASP Nouman Zaffar has been formed to investigate the murder of the journalist Ghulam Ashgar Khand.
