Information ministry’s social media cell abolished
ISLAMABAD: The information ministry has abolished its social media cell, making 24 people jobless.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan confirmed the development at a press conference on Thursday.
She, however, said that the cell was raised by her on a temporary basis. “Now, we are going to establish a proper digital media wing at the ministry,” she said. The people in the abolished cell were working on a daily-wage basis and they would be paid against the services they have rendered.
Asked about their job status, Ms Awan said a proposal had been moved for establishing the digital media wing, adding that once it was approved by the prime minister, the ministry would re-advertise the posts.
