Govt of Punjab taking serious measures to promote print media: DGPR

APNS Recovery Committee meet DGPR Punjab in Lahore

Lahore – A meeting of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) Punjab Recovery Committee was held under the chairmanship of Mohsin Mumtaz, with the Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Government of Punjab, Mr. Ghulam Sagheer Shahid, in attendance. The session focused on detailed discussions regarding outstanding payments related to print media.

Speaking on the occasion, DGPR Punjab Mr. Ghulam Sagheer Shahid stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Ms. Maryam Nawaz and Minister for Information and Culture Ms. Azma Bukhari, the Government of Punjab is working earnestly to raise public awareness. He added that awareness campaigns will continue consistently for uplifting the people of Punjab.

The meeting began with opening remarks from Chairman Mohsin Mumtaz, who praised the outstanding achievements of the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Information Minister Azma Bukhari. APNS Finance Secretary Naveed Kashif noted that significant payments had been made by the DGPR Punjab over the past ten months, which represent a ray of hope for print media professionals and publishers.

Imtinan Shahid, Chief Editor of Khabrain, appreciated the efforts of Minister Azma Bukhari and DGPR Ghulam Sagheer Shahid’s team, stating that DGPR Punjab has successfully projected a strong and dynamic image of the Punjab government across all provinces.

Usman Shami, Editor of Daily Pakistan, remarked that there is no doubt the Punjab government has taken a leading role in development, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz rightfully deserves commendation. He emphasized that timely payments to the print media will breathe new life into the fading spirit of journalism. Other participants included Munir Gilani (Pegham), Noorullah (Jang), Imran Raza (Dawn), and Imran Athar (Jurat). Bilal Mehmood (Nawa-i-Waqt), Furqan Hashmi (Khabrain), and Muhammad Farooq (Pakistan) attended the meeting as observers.
