Corrupt leaders scared of free media, Prime Minister tells journalist Habib Akram during live call
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said that freedom of expression is a blessing for any country and media should help government in improving its performance as constructive criticism is a blessing for a vibrant society.
The prime minister said this while talking to Dunya News anchorperson in live TV Programme “Aapka Wazir-e-Azam Aap Ke Saath” on Sunday.
Responding to a direct call made by renowned journalist Habib Akram, PM Khan said that the corrupt leaders are scared of free media. “If I had been involved in corrupt activities, I would have been scared of a free media too,” he added.
The premier maintained that the government believes in freedom of expression as constructive criticism is a blessing for a vibrant society. “I only oppose the media when fake news is disseminated, otherwise free media is a blessing for any country.”
Renowned journalists Habib Akram said that after response of the prime minister to his telephone call, it was believed that PM Imran Khan answered phone calls directly.
