Commonwealth Media Group greets Guardian and Washington Post.on awarding Pulitzer prize

London: The Commonwealth Media Group, which is the Commonwealth Press Union Trust, the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association and the Commonwealth Journalists Association acting together, congratulates the UK’s Guardian newspaper and the Washington Post on being awarded the Pulitzer Prize for public service. This is for their revelations about the USA’s National Security Agency’s surveillance activities, based on the leaks from Edward Snowden. The Chairman of the Commonwealth Media Group, Elizabeth Smith, commented: “This was the most significant exposure of surveillance activities in recent years and is leading to major reforms in the USA. It took considerable courage to publish the selected parts despite huge opposition and controversy. The publication was a major contribution to the public good.”
