PEMRA suspends Neo TV license with immediate effect
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Wednesday suspended Neo TV’s license for airing illegal transmission, violating rules, and an order of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
In a notification, the authority said Neo TV was provided ample opportunities to revert to its original content. Still, the licensee failed to go back to its original programming of entertainment and continued violating PEMRA directives and the Islamabad High Court verdict.
“Due to non-compliance of license terms and conditions and orders of the authority, PEMRA suspends license conferred to M/s. Fun Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. “Neo TV” with immediate effect.”
PEMRA had directed Neo TV to stop illegal transmission, but the channel challenged the decision in the Islamabad High Court, where its plea for a change of category was dismissed.
