Senior journalist Zafar Rashid Bhatti dies of corona virus in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD—Zafar Rashid Bhatti, a senior journalist and a former president of the Associated Press of Pakistan employees’ union, passed away on Monday after a three-week battle with corona virus.
He had contracted the virus at the start of the month and was put on a ventilator.
Bhatti was an active trade unionist and an ex-chief reporter at the news agency.
The offices of APP in Islamabad were shut down for three days after a current employee tested positive for COVID-19.He is the first Pakistani journalist who died of prevailing pandemic.
