Editor-in-Chief The Frontier Post Rehmat Shah Afridi Arrested
Lahore: Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive of and English Daily The Frontier Post Rehmat Shah Afridi has been taken into the custody of Civil Lines Police from his office on 5th October ,Sunday. The police claims that The Frontier Post Editor was wanted to the police in a case registered under section 506 of Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint lodged by Muhammad Jalil. Police further claim that Rehmat Shah Afridi has threatened for dire consequences to complainant Jalil due to which got registered against Mr. Afridi.
Mr. Rehmat Shah Afridi was sitting in his Lahore office situated at 10-Queen’s Road, Lahore when a police party stormed into the office and took away Mr. Afridi to the Civil Lines Police and he was put in lock up. Rehmat Shah Afridi expressed resentment over the police action and termed it harsh and blamed the police that police is playing in the hands of Jalil and company and victimizing him.
“I have not committed any crime and a concocted story has been put up against him just to implicate me in a false case “I have publically disowned Jalil, Mahmoodullah, Bilal due to their indecent attitude and plundering besides their involvement in a fraud and swindling his friends ” Rehmat Shah Afridi told to the media persons. Mr. Afridi said that I am not afraid of such high headedness and would continue cause of freedom of press and fighting for the just cause of the ordinary people which is sole duty of the media practitioners . He regretted that civil lines police has not registered a case against Jalil and other associates on account of their involvement of committing fraud, cheating, preparing fake documents and selling properties through fraud.
The court has also ordered registration of the case against them yet the police has not complied the orders. He said he will not bow down and committed to continue to raise the voice against the misdeeds of all those deceive and cheat and hoodwink the national interest for their personal gains.
