Bahawalpur: Renowned writer, poet, researcher, and journalist Syed Masood Hassan Shahab Delhvi of Bahawalpur has been posthumously awarded Pakistan’s prestigious presidential civil award, “Sitara-i-Imtiaz,” in recognition of his outstanding literary, academic, and journalistic services to the country.
At a special ceremony held at Governor House Lahore, the award was received by his son, Professor Dr. Shahid Rizvi, from the Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan.
Literary and academic circles have expressed great satisfaction and happiness over the conferment of the “Sitara-i-Imtiaz” upon Syed Masood Hassan Shahab Delhvi. Scholars and intellectuals stated that the posthumous recognition proves that genuine literary and scholarly contributions continue to retain their importance and influence despite the passage of time. They described the award as a matter of pride not only for Bahawalpur but for the entire literary community of Pakistan.
It may be recalled that the monthly magazine “Ilham” was launched in 1940 in New Delhi, India, by its founder Syed Masood Hassan Shahab Delhvi. Following the partition of the subcontinent and his migration to the former State of Bahawalpur, the publication was converted into a weekly newspaper. A few years ago, however, it was once again revived in the form of a monthly magazine.
Currently, the 84-year-old monthly magazine “Ilham” is being published under the leadership of Professor Shahid Hassan Rizvi, son of the late Syed Masood Hassan Shahab Delhvi, who serves as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, while his wife Erum Shahid is serving as Editor of the magazine.
