Uch Sharif, Bahawalpur Division: President of Rural Media Network Pakistan, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, chaired the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of Uch Press Club & Media Group Uch Sharif, held at the Town Hall (Municipal Office), Uch Sharif.

The oath was administered by Assistant Commissioner Ahmedpur East, Muhammad Naveed Haider, in the presence of senior journalists, media stakeholders, and representatives of the local community.

RMNP Emphasizes Ethical and Responsible Journalism in South Punjab

In his presidential address, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar—who also serves as Patron-in-Chief of Uch Press Club & Media Group Uch Sharif—congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and emphasized the importance of ethical journalism, professional integrity, and responsible media practices in strengthening democratic values at the grassroots level.

He stated that journalists in South Punjab, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas such as Uch Sharif, play a vital role in highlighting public issues, governance challenges, and community development concerns. He urged the newly elected body to uphold positive traditions of journalism, ensuring that future generations can take pride in the profession.

He further stressed the need for fact-based reporting, accountability journalism, and constructive engagement, enabling the media to serve as a bridge between citizens and public institutions.

RMNP to Launch Journalist Training Workshops and Media Conventions

Highlighting future initiatives, the RMNP President announced that Rural Media Network Pakistan, in collaboration with Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (Workers), will organize journalist training workshops, capacity-building programs, and media conventions for journalists from Interior Sindh and South Punjab.

These initiatives will aim to enhance professional competencies, reinforce ethical standards, and build capacity in investigative and development-oriented journalism, with a particular focus on digital journalism, media sustainability, and the safety training of journalists, especially those working in rural and high-risk reporting environments.

World Press Freedom Day 2026: RMNP to Continue Tradition of Advocacy and Recognition

President RMNP also announced that the organization will commemorate World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2026, as part of its continued commitment to press freedom advocacy in Pakistan.

On this occasion, RMNP will present two RMNP Sadiq Press Freedom Cash Awards—one to a living journalist and another posthumously—to recognize outstanding contributions to press freedom, independent journalism, and media development in Pakistan.

Participation of Local Media Leadership and Newly Elected Body

The ceremony was attended by prominent members of the journalistic community, including editors, senior reporters, and representatives of journalist organizations from Ahmedpur East and surrounding areas.

The newly elected President of Uch Press Club & Media Group Uch Sharif, Muhammad Ijaz Khan Pathan, thanked the participants for their trust and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting journalistic unity, institutional strengthening, and protection of journalists’ rights.
