New Book Explores Maulana Zafar Ali Khan’s Role in Journalism and Political Thought
Authored by Dr Syed Nadeem-ul-Hassan Gilani, the book highlights Maulana Zafar Ali Khan’s influence on journalism, political awareness and Muslim unity in the Subcontinent
Lahore: A new book titled “Maulana Zafar Ali Khan ka Ahd-e-Sahafat” (The Era of Journalism of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan) by renowned journalist, researcher, columnist, poet and author Dr Syed Nadeem-ul-Hassan Gilani has been published.
Dr Gilani completed his PhD in Journalism from the University of the Punjab in 1994, with his doctoral research focused on Maulana Zafar Ali Khan. He has served as Chief Public Relations Officer in the City District Government Lahore and has held key editorial and media positions, including Editor of the monthly Ahwal-e-Lahore, Director of Roshni Communication Advertising Lahore, and Group Editor of the daily Omega News.
An established literary figure, Dr Gilani has published around five poetry collections, several academic textbooks on journalism, and a compilation of his columns titled “Log Kehte Hain”. His latest work is a comprehensive 782-page volume that examines the life, journalism, intellectual vision and leadership of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, widely regarded as Baba-e-Sahafat (the father of journalism) in the Subcontinent.
The book presents Maulana Zafar Ali Khan not merely as a journalist or poet, but as a visionary leader, thinker and patriot who used his writings to awaken political consciousness among the Muslims of the Subcontinent and worked tirelessly to unite them on a common platform. Dr Gilani highlights Maulana Zafar Ali Khan’s principled stance, fearless expression, and unwavering commitment to national service, portraying him as a towering figure whose contributions to journalism and public life will be remembered for generations.
