Ahmedpur East : A new representative body titled “Journalists Alliance” has been established jointly by six press clubs — Chani Goth, Uch Sharif, Mubarakpur, Hatehji, Nowshera Jadeed, and Farooqabad — along with the Ahmedpur Union of Journalists (AUJ). The announcement came at the conclusion of a one-day dialogue on strengthening press clubs and journalists’ unions, organized jointly by Daily Nawa-i-AhmedpurSharqia, in collaboration with Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP) held at a local hotel under the chairmanship of Chief Editor of Daily Nawa-i-AhmedpurSharqia, Mr. Ehsan Ahmed Sehar.
During the event, Irshad Ahmed Shad President of Uch Press Club and Media Group was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Journalists Alliance Coordination Committee, comprising Abdul Hameed Saqib, Shahid Bashir Chaudhry, Rao Muhammad Farooq, Asif Awan, Malik Habib Lang, and Abu Bakar Ronghia as members.
To ensure the safety and protection of journalists across Tehsil Ahmedpur Sharqia, it was also decided to establish a Journalists Safety Committee. Senior journalist Muhammad Nasir Khan Niazi was elected as its Chairman, while Ahmed Ali Chaudhry and Khalil-ur-Rehman Khokhar were chosen as Vice Chairmen. Other members include Javed Malik, Faraz Haider Khan, Malik Abdul Hafeez Anjum, Zahid Hussain Kalhoro, Khizar Abbas, and Imtiaz Khan.
The meeting further appointed Faraz Haider and Hameedullah Khan Aziz as Chief Coordinaror and Coordinator of the newly formed Journalists Alliance respectively, while Ehsan Ahmed Sehar was named its Patron-in-Chief by consensus.
A WhatsApp group for the Alliance was also created to enhance coordination among members, with Shahid Bashir Chaudhry, President of Chani Goth Press Club, appointed as its Admin.
Earlier, during the dialogue session, participants including Rao Muhammad Farooq (Mubarakpur), Irshad Ahmed Shad (Uch Sharif), Abu Bakar Ronghia (Hatehji), Faraz Haider (Mubarakpur), Shahid Bashir Chaudhry (Chani Goth), Abdul Hameed Saqib , Nasir Khan Niazi, Imran Lar, Khalil-ur-Rehman Khokhar, Syed Sarfraz Hussain Zaidi ( AhmedpurEast), Javed Malik, Malik Habib Lang (Farooqabad), and Asif Awan (Nowshera Jadid) expressed their views.
Speakers paid rich tributes to Mr. Ehsan Ahmed Sehar for his decades-long services to journalism and press freedom in the region.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the first convention of journalists from Tehsil Ahmedpur East under the banner of the Journalists Alliance will be held on October 26 in Uch Sharif, hosted by Chairman Irshad Ahmed Shad, where the future plan of action will be finalized.
At the conclusion of the event, Chief Editor Mr. Ehsan Ahmed Sehar distributed participation certificates among 23 delegates, including presidents, secretaries, and office-bearers of six press clubs and the Ahmedpur Union of Journalists.
