Journalists pay rich tribute to Mazhar Iqbal’s struggle for press Freedom & workers’ rights

Unity of journalistic bodies termed fulfillment of Mazhar Iqbal’s dream

Islamabad (PR) — A condolence reference was organized in memory of the late President of RIUJ Workers, Mazhar Iqbal, through the joint collaboration of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Workers (PFUJ Workers) and the National Press Club Islamabad.

The event was conducted by RIUJ Secretary Hameedullah Abid. On this occasion, PFUJ Workers President Dr. Saadia Kamal, PFUJ Barna President Afzal Butt, PFUJ Dastoor President Haji Nawaz Raza, National Press Club Secretary Nayyar Ali, Apnec President Siddique Anzar, Javed Malik, and other speakers paid rich tribute to the late Mazhar Iqbal.

Speakers said Mazhar Iqbal devoted his entire life to the struggle for freedom of expression and the protection of workers’ rights. His tireless efforts and courageous role will always be remembered. It was his wish that all journalistic organizations unite, end group divisions, and launch a joint movement for the rights of workers.

Speakers added that today’s gathering of all journalistic organizations on one platform represents the fulfillment of Mazhar Iqbal’s desire, which will bring peace to his soul.

The late leader’s son, Nauman Mazhar, and daughter-in-law, Zoya Nauman, also attended the ceremony and shared memories of their respected father, leaving participants teary-eyed. At the end of the program, journalist Shabbir Usmani offered prayers for the departed soul.
