Ahmedpur Union of Journalists Awards Presentation Ceremony

Bahawalpur: Director Public Relations Department Bahawalpur Division, Dr. Nasir Hameed, has urged journalists to always uphold the dignity and honor of national security institutions, emphasizing that the nation’s freedom and peaceful life are possible only because of their sacrifices. He said these institutions are a source of national pride, and their recent success in the “Battle for Truth” compelled India to retreat, proving their strength and commitment.

He expressed these views as chief guest at an award distribution ceremony organized by Ahmedpur Union of Journalists (AUJ) Ahmedpur Sharqia at Punjab College to mark Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day and the victory of the “Battle for Truth.” The ceremony was presided over by AUJ founder and patron, senior journalist Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, while Deputy Director of Public Relations Bahawalpur, Nauman Masood Khan, attended as guest of honor. The event was moderated by Hameedullah Khan Aziz.

Highlighting the challenges of the digital era, Dr. Hameed urged journalists to exercise extreme caution while disseminating information through social media. He warned that fake news not only damages the credibility of journalists but also spreads unrest and anxiety in society. “Never forward or share unverified content on social media and ensure the positive use of digital platforms,” he advised. He also congratulated Ehsan Ahmed Sehar and his colleagues for successfully organizing the event.

Guest of honor, Deputy Director Public Relations Bahawalpur, Nauman Masood Khan, in his address, said that journalist unions have always played a vital role in protecting the rights and interests of media workers. He appreciated AUJ’s efforts in organizing training workshops and seminars for young journalists, which help sharpen their professional skills.

In his presidential address, AUJ patron-in-chief, Ehsan Ahmed Sehar, shed light on the union’s objectives and reviewed its performance over the past three years. On behalf of AUJ, he congratulated Dr. Nasir Hameed on assuming charge as Director of Public Relations and Nauman Masood Khan as Deputy Director.

The ceremony was also addressed by Muhammad Suleman Farooqi, veteran journalist Syed Sarfraz Hussain Zaidi, Dr. Abdul Hameed Saqib, Imran Lar, and Hameedullah Khan Aziz.
