UCH SHARIF: Rural Media Network Pakistan (RMNP), in collaboration with Daily Nawa-i-Ahmedpursharqia, organised a one-day capacity-building training workshop titled “Strengthening Local Journalism: Skills, Ethics & Technology” at Uch Sharif, attracting 166 male and female journalists representing 18 press clubs and the Ahmedpur Union of Journalists Workers (AUJW) from different districts and towns of South Punjab.
The workshop was organised for members of the Journalists Alliance Pakistan (JAP) Rural and Town Press Clubs South Punjab Chapter, as part of efforts to strengthen the professional skills of local journalists and introduce them to modern reporting techniques and digital media practices.

The training was conducted by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shehzad Rana, former Chairman, Department of Media and Communication Studies, and Director of Community Broadcasting, Radio, TV and Film at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB).
Prof. Dr. Rana delivered comprehensive sessions on the practical requirements of contemporary journalism, following the distributed course outline. His sessions covered digital storytelling, the core values of news and its treatment in the rapidly evolving digital media environment.
Explaining the changing nature of news in the digital age, he highlighted the formula that news should be timely, impactful and truthful, while also being visual, short and shareable. He discussed five golden rules of Mobile Journalism (MoJo), the news-writing formula for social media and a three-step verification process that journalists should follow before sharing information.
